☢ History of CBC

Our Heritage:

Community Bible Church used to be called “Twin-City Biblical Baptist Church.” Twin-City Biblical Baptist Church was established as a church plant by Chembur Biblical Baptist Church. Church history in general, and Baptist history in particular, are filled with examples of church planting efforts. CBC owes its beginning to the vision of Chembur Biblical Baptist Church and its pastor, Chandrashekar Eda, as well as the cooperative effort of several Baptist churches that have joined together to support the cause of planting new congregations.

In 2004 Chembur Biblical Baptist Church and Pastor Chandrashekar Eda decided to reach the area of Navi Mumbai with the glorious gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Chembur Biblical Baptist Church commissioned at least 10 families to begin a church plant in the Navi Mumbai area. After several years of home Bible studies, the church decided to launch officially in 2009. As the area of Navi Mumbai began to thrive, so did the local church.

Name Change:

Twin-City Biblical Baptist Church was a very good name. However, the leaders of the church decided to name the church after some of the convictions that would eventually be held by the church and become enshrined in our church constitution. Therefore, Twin City Biblical Baptist Church was changed to Community Bible Fellowship.

Following that, the eldership decided that in order to be true to our Baptist Heritage, and true to the fact that we are in fact a church, Community Bible Fellowship was changed to Community Bible Church. This does not mean that we do not hold to the Baptistic distinctive. However, we wanted to be recognized as a body of believers who hold to the Bible strongly primarily.
